If you are familiar with Forgeworld products, you’ll know the sting of models suddenly going out of production. I recently decided to have a look at a recast to see what the quality was like. If it was good I’d treat any recasts like any other models, but if not I’d find another use for them.
So I purchased a TX-42 Piranha, and two DX-4 Technical Drones. Both have been out of production for many years, and they were cheaper products to try before potentially buying an Orca Dropship. The quality wasn’t pretty poor, if I wanted to try with another old kit I would look towards 3D printing instead. I was hoping to buy a Barracuda but those have recently been discontinued along with many other T’au models.
As for these recasts, they became this diorama which can also be used as a large objective marker or piece of terrain. The Piranha has crashed into the ground and come to a stop against these rocks with the occupants still inside. The two drones, from a different sept, are performing basic clean-up tasks such as identifying the dead and preparing the vehicle for salvage.
